What’s Going On Between Obama and Iran?

Islam_symbolWhat’s going on with the Obama administration and Iran? On its face it makes absolutely no sense at all! Here we have Iranian leadership in Ayatollah Khomeini who’s promising death to America while at the same time the White House actively engages in talks that will ultimately lead to the loosening of all sanctions on Iran and its gaining of the nuclear bomb. According to the White House and the State Department, they don’t really mean it. “Death to America” and “erasing Israel off the map” is “nonnegotiable,”  are just hyperbole meant to appease the Iranian people. They are amazing statements and lead to only one of two possibilities; either the Administration is brazenly lying and they know that Iran intends to destroy the United States and Israel, or it actually believes that the Iranian leadership is only saying “Of course, yes, death to America” because their people want to hear it. So which is more likely?

The answer lies in domestic policy, not just of the White House, but also of Democrat politicians in general. Hardly a day goes by when some Democrat, whether it’s Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton or all the above accuse a conservative or Republican of being a racist, bigot, or homophobe for opposing a liberal progressive policy, in particular those coming from Pres. Obama. The level of rhetoric that progressive and liberal politicians in the far left Democrat party spew is nothing short of hyperbole as well. They cry racism so frequently now that the word itself has lost all impact. Like the boy who cried wolf, racism has been charged so many times that now when actual racism occurs many don’t pay attention. Most recently, the incident in Ferguson Missouri, the “hands up don’t shoot” mantra took on near legendary status. Cries of racism, bigotry and murder by a police officer were claimed for months, but the officer was completely vindicated by both the grand jury and the Eric Holder’s Justice Department. Could it be that these cries, which happen so frequently, these extreme and gross examples comparing Republicans to terrorists or any other of 1000 disgusting comparisons are done for show?

Could the Democratic political machine make extreme accusations just because they’re effective, and because they rile up the Democratic base and increase fundraising? Given the mounting examples, it’s likely so and under this reality, could President Obama and his leftist State Department supporters be projecting their behavior and their motivations onto the Iranian Ayatollah and his minions? The answer to this perplexing and dangerous foreign policy could be no more complex than Democrats are so used to exaggeration that they blindly assume the Iranians are to, when in a tragic irony, the Iranian’s really mean exactly what they’re saying…Death to America and death to Israel!

Crimea…River

American Flag and POW FlagPeggy Noonan asked a question in a recent article, what is Obama’s foreign policy,

“Not being George W. Bush is not a foreign policy. Not invading countries is not a foreign policy. Wishing to demonstrate your sophistication by announcing you are unencumbered by the false historical narratives of the past is not a foreign policy. Assuming the world will be nice if we’re not militarist is not a foreign policy.

What is our foreign policy? Disliking global warming?”

The answer is no, although global warming is a molehill the left has turned into a mountain.  The Obama foreign policy, specific to the Ukraine, but applicable everywhere else, is simply:

“CRIMEA…River.”

The Obama administration thought that the world would follow him just because of the power of his personality.  That early love affair has now grown as cold, and distant as his first campaign slogan “Hope and Change”.  Obama consistently responds to crisis with complaints, warnings like the Syrian Red Line, and then backs down.  Our country no longer has any credibility, we’ve squandered the respect of our allies, and our enemies no longer fear us.  So our country’s foreign policy is simply to “Crimea…River” and hope for the best.

Rising Fear

There’s an ominous new phenomenon in the United States and it is fear of our government. The world is being turned upside down by the progressive and ever more authoritarian Obama administration.  The double tragedy is that as we begin to fear the federal government here at home, our enemies have begun to laugh at us abroad.

We should be feared by oppressive regimes such as North Korea, Iran, Russia, and China, but instead they realize that they can effectively operate throughout the world without American opposition.  In a similar tragedy, there are many that are breaking the laws here in America that also no longer fear the United States.  Illegal aliens, who broke our immigration laws freely to come here, roam across the United States without fear that they will be held accountable for breaking those laws.  Not only are they no longer afraid, but they are even emboldened.  In rising numbers, they demand things from our government and the American people.  Despite promises to the contrary, illegal aliens are actively being sought by Covered California to sign up for Obama care, a program that legally they cannot participate in.  As an aside, I wonder how many of the enrollees that the Obama administration reports are actually illegals who should not be signing up at all?  We will probably never know.  Even if the government does, they certainly won’t tell us.  And that brings us back to fear.

Those of us who are American citizens have seen the erosion of our God given liberties and our protection under the Constitution.  We now have reason to fear the federal government! From IRS intimidation, proposals of new regulations that would institutionalize those intimidations and crush free speech, suggestions of FCC meddling in what stories the media is able to present, each day brings new examples of why we have reason to fear our government.  How long will this go on?  How many more liberties will we lose?  Is there a turning point where the American people will stand up with one united voice and say enough? We all need to pray that the path President Obama and the Democrat Party put us on is reversible.  We all need to pray that the Republican Party will stand against it and not surrender as they often do.

Since its inception the United States of America has been the single greatest defender of and hope for liberty here and around the world.  America’s form of government is the “exception” in the history of mankind.  I pray, as should you, that American “exceptionalism” doesn’t perish under this growing cloud of authoritarianism, intimidation and fear.
